Personal GLP-1 health coaching

You do not have to figure out every part of GLP-1 treatment by yourself.

You might be taking a GLP-1, considering one, or in between, either on a medication or off of one. Bring me the part you are stuck on. That could be side effects, food that feels different now, an insurance or pharmacy problem, a habit you have been trying to build, or what to ask your doctor at your next appointment. I listen first, then help you get clear about what you want and what you want to do about it. My coaching is based on the STRONG Framework for Self-Advocacy. You make the decisions about your health and your life, and I help you think them through.

I am an ACE-certified health coach with a specialization in weight management and advanced training in anti-obesity medications. I have also been a GLP-1 patient since October 2024. My advocacy for affordable GLP-1 access has been covered by Reuters, Wired, The New York Times, Politico, USA Today, CNBC, Fast Company, and other news organizations.

Meet Amanda

I started a GLP-1 with almost no guidance.

Hi, I'm Amanda Bonello. My struggles with my weight started when I was twelve. Both of my parents have type 2 diabetes, and I was borderline prediabetic myself. I spent the years after that trying to control the size of my body, and I developed an eating disorder doing it. The food noise was debilitating the whole time.

I started my first GLP-1 medication in October 2024, and it was life changing. The food noise finally quieted and I got to think about something else. Everything around the medication was harder, and I figured most of it out on my own. I was terrified of the first shot. I was trying to work out how to dose myself, and the idea of putting a needle in my own arm frightened me. It felt like I was doing something I was not supposed to be doing, so I hid it from my family.

Then my hair fell out and the constipation was awful, and I did not know which parts were normal or what I was supposed to ask my doctor. The protein, the fiber, the water, and the questions worth bringing to an appointment all came one problem at a time, and mostly on my own. There are people going through that same stretch every single day.

So I became a health coach, and then took it two steps further with advanced training in anti-obesity medications and a specialization in weight management. I wanted to be able to say, with something behind it, that obesity is a disease and that it is not your fault. I have a lifetime of experience with weight stigma, and I am using it to build a compassionate care model for GLP-1 patients specifically.

Since then I founded the GLP-1 Collective nonprofit, started the GLP-1 Studio Podcast, gathered more than 27,000 signatures on a petition I took to the FDA and the patent office, built free resources for the questions patients kept asking me, and co-founded Cozy Butter with Kim Carlos so people would have the support I did not have.

How this works

Three things make this different.

01

No lectures here

You already have enough people telling you what you should be doing. We start with the part you actually want help with, and I draw out your own reasons rather than adding mine on top.

02

You're talking to a real human

Every answer comes from me. There is no chatbot handling your coaching questions and no team behind the scenes. I am ACE-certified, with advanced training in anti-obesity medications.

03

I've actually lived this

I take a GLP-1 too. I know the pharmacy calls, the insurance appeals, the family dinners, and the hundred small things nobody puts in the medication brochure.
